Model Marathon Mondays

Model Marathon Mondays (*M3*)

Oh, Goosh!!!!!!! Date night has finally arrived and you have a HUGE pimple between your eye brows. Even, getting your eye brows cleaned up would not hide the hideous, inflamed bump.  Some people think that having unclear skin or acne is inevitable to escape.  In fact I used to think the exact same thing when I was in high school.  Yes, I had bad acne middle school through the tenth grade.

I knew that if I wanted to use my beauty to make ends meet, I would have to get this under control.  Now, there are some break outs that are just out of my and your hands.  Like, when it's that time of month for us women.   It's hormonal.  There is no switch to turn it off.  So, we either deal with it...or develop and implement a "good at-home skin care regime."

The key to a "good skin care regimen" is consistency.  In my opinion it is important to stick to the products that work best for you.  My skin tends to produce a lot of oil.  So, Neutrogena fragrance free soap has worked well for me.  I love that Neutrogena gives you the option to purchase it's product without fragrances for those who may have sensitive skin or be allergic.Velocity produces have worked well for my sister.

Most dermatologists recommend cleansing your face morning and evening.  I wear makeup just about everyday so I cleanse with Olay makeup wipes.  It's great for removing makeup and moisturizing the skin.  If Olay wipes would not be your number one choice you may also try baby wipes.  They tend to work well, too.  A trick for if your wipes dry out....just wet them a little with warm water.  Good as new!

Exfoliation is an important factor when it comes to maintaining healthy skin.  Exfoliating allows you to remove the excess dirt and oil that your cleanser or soap failed to remove.  Be careful not to over exfoliate your skin.  For example, tenderness and rawness may be clues of over exfoliating.  I tend to exfoliate with CVS brand disposable facial pads every 2-3 days.  I like these pads because they are just as reliable as high end pads and less expensive.  Trust me they get the job done.

I like to reward my skin for good behavior.  So after washing with Neutrogena and exfoliating with CVS disposable pads,  I wash with AMBI complexion soap.  I enjoy using AMBI soap because it smells wonderful and helps my skin heal any discoloration. I use the AMBI soap and Olay moisturizer lotion as a 2 in 1 moisturizing technique.  I find that it works well in the winter months and the summer.

Keep in mind that your diet and exercise play a major role as well.  Drink plenty of water and eat a good amount of fruits and vegetables.  I used to be really good at forcing myself to drink more water.  Whenever, I had another drink either at breakfast or dinner, I would put a glass of water next to it and force myself to drink both.  Sort of like a reward and requirement system.  I was required to drink water as a healthy choice.  Juice or pop would be my reward.  And it actually worked.  Before long I did not need to bribe myself.

I should start doing this again, now that I think about!?
Overall, flawless skin is achievable without medicating.  I feel that we need be patient, find what works for our skin and stick with it.  Ladies if you need a clue to what may work best for you, ask your mothers what they used.  Many times we have similar skin types to our mothers.  I know that my mother has used Neutrogena for at least the last 15 years and I have used the same regimen for about 10 years with a few additions of course.

Products to try:
AMBI complexion soap
Neutrogena cleanser bar soap or Neutrogena liquid cleanser
CVS disposable exfoliating pads
Olay makeup removal wipes
CoCoa Butter (for curling iron burns)
Olay moisturizer lotion

I am curious.....
What products or regime have worked best for you?
What area of your skin care regime can you improve or enhance for better results?
